SICBA Voting Still Open!

June 16, 2011

Voting for the Scottish Independent Comic Book Awards has been open at the Mackintosh Church, Arts & Heritage Centre since Monday.  If you’re in the Glasgow area and are interested in voting, but haven’t got around to it yet, you have until tomorrow to head over there and pick your favorite comics from the Scottish indy scene.  Remember, The Standard is nominated for Best Comic/Graphic Novel, and I’m nominated for Best Writer!

Here is the map to the place from City Centre that Glasgow Comic Con provide, though to be honest I ended up getting more lost following it.  If you can get to Cowcadden tube station, and take the walkway under the M8, it’s pretty much a 15 minute walk in a straight line to get there.

And here is the full shortlist of SICBA nominees:

Best Writer
Craig Collins – Roachwell
Martin Conaghan – Burke and Hare
Gill Hatcher and Adam Smith – Go Wildlife!
John Lees – The Standard
Curt Sibling – King Evil

Best Artist
James Devlin – Dark Ascension: Confession
Will Pickering – Burke and Hare
Alex Ronald – Vampire Vixens
Curt Sibling – King Evil
Stevie White – Milk+

Best Comic Book or Graphic Novel
Burke and Hare
Dougie’s War
Ganjaman Presents
Go Wildlife!
King Evil
Milk+
Roachwell
The Standard
Team Girl Comic
Wasted

The awards ceremony is on the evening of Saturday 18th June.  I’ve read all the nominated comics, and it’s a very high standard (oh ho, no pun intended!) of competition.  Best of luck to all the nominees.  And to anyone who has voted or is planning to vote, a big thank you!
